Why does the Army use intelligence test scores to select Green Berets? Because in the Vietnam War, when they lowered IQ test requirements, it was disastrous and many died. Seems pretty effective to me.

What’s the minimum IQ necessary? I think they argument is, they indicate intelligence to a point, and the kind of skills needed to be a good green beret May match what’re test tests for

As far as I can make out, the ASVAB scores expected for special forces are in the 90th+ percentile for all military personnel. Very selective.

Some units/team and special programs have IQ score cuts. In fact, in specific ones you will find only over 120-130 dudes. Multiple reasons for that.

McNamara's Folly by H. Gregory is an account of what occurred when the US Army lowered standards to deploy more troops to Vietnam. It's not pretty. On trial for the My Lai Massacre, Calley's lawyers argued he wouldn't even have been in Vietnam had IQ standards not been lowered.

What I cant understand about IQ denial is the odd, seemingly, belief that if you acknowledge innate cognitive ability and its large factor in outcome, you're somehow simultaneously saying that human discipline, grit, and passion cant compensate to some degree.

The Army uses IQ tests ONLY to weed people out--which is what
