You forget that IQ was developed as a metric for childhood development and becomes meaningless for subjects over 18.
Something developed for one use can be applied to other uses. It doesn't carry its origin story around like some kind of primal trauma in a superhero movie bro.

Actually, the logic of the metric tells you everything about where it can and can't be applied. If you don't understand the construct, you don't understand its limitations.
