My challenge to folks who are skeptical about IQ tests such as the Stanford-Binet or WAIS-R: Develop your own measure of general cognitive ability and show that it has higher reliability & validity in predicting real-world success. I'll wait.

Almost nobody who is skeptical of such tests is also claiming that they could do a better job designing one.

That's exactly the problem. For example, Howard Gardner never bothered to develop any reliable, valid measures of his 'multiple intelligences', and never showed they have low intercorrelations.
