You’re missing an important point: the financial system is one of the most (if not the most) regulated businesses in the planet. There’s no ideal capitalism there.
They cry for free markets while buying congressmen for licensing and other barriers to entry. Bankers abhor a free market.
I find Marxist criticism of capitalism on point in plenty of cases - though their desired solution is, to say the least, horrible.
this is another problem in the modern "debate". Everything is reduced to ad hominem. If Marx said it, it's Wrong™. If the founding fathers said it - it's Right™. No nuance anywhere. It's all just holy scripture.
Their critiques are generally valid. It's their solutions that leave me scratching my head.

We should never have allowed so much consolidation in banking. The takeover of the banks and payment processors is a real threat to our economy and eventually, to world peace. Time for gov’t action (God help us)?
