Aren't they talking about different things? i: IQ is a great predictor for doing well in life ii: IQ is not a sufficient condition for doing fantastic - other skills matter more (e.g. ambitions, risk willingness, boldness, anti fragility...) Is there conflict betwen i and ii?

IQ is a good predictor for doing well at “things” (of certain kinds), but not life. There are plenty of high-IQ people who lack in the personal drive to achieve anything. IQ is just icing on the cake, in a pantheon of other needed personal attributes.

IIRC: The "things" higher IQ seem to predict include: -income -longevity -health -education Aren't these real things? ...but ofc, statistical significance aside, other factors matter as well.

This really wasn’t as impressive as I expected. Sounded like a typical slice of upper middle class society in nyc

Exactly. But compared to the WHOLE population they are doing very well. No one is disputing that you need more than IQ to become a billionaire.

You really don’t understand my point... These people didn’t seem to accomplish much more than the average person in the upper middle class. Who doesn’t have anything near 160 IQ. It’s not that you need more than IQ, it’s that you don’t need IQ above a certain threshold
