The only thing you can do is be as truthful as possible in your work. Be as truthful as possible, don't look for what you want to find, don't lie by omission. If you do those things, IMO your "ethical liability" stops there.

I’d agree that’s a fine bar for ethical liability. My thinking here is more aspirational than obligatory. Obviously one cannot account for all cases, but if you think “someone might interpret this wrong,” it’s good to call out early.
