It's odd that we are told advanced western nations need mass immigration to keep functioning, yet for decades up until Tony Blair's 1997 election the UK functioned as an advanced, western nation with net immigration of approx 20,000/year, more than 10x lower than current levels
Also odd that pundits claim we need immigration to 'replace an aging population', when no serious attempt has been made to develop & implement pronatalist policies.

The media literally bombards us with the message that having kids is a bad thing (to the environment, the cost, mental health, etc.) and also, it's like the entire public education system is completely useless at developing the skills that apparently only immigrants can provide.

Yes good point ... why do we need to “replace” anyone? Is there any other reason than funding government benefits? And if that is the driver aren’t we admitting that the fundamental federal policy is (unmaintainable / infinite) pyramid scheme?
