*s. Crypto, on the other hand, still relies on trusted exchanges to actually be useful. Who could, again, deny service. And is an asset you'd presumably want to cash out at some point, and store in some sort of payment system that intersects with the real world.

It is, it's just crypto is emphatically not the answer. It replaces one set of potential failure points with another, and brings with it a different set of problems. It's not as if the state department couldn't go after something like Bittrex either.

In fact, the traditional banking system - which has quite a few locales that hide ownership and is well used to that sort of dispute - is probably far better placed to handle things.
