I don't know if it Dem administration could get away with it but if the Bay Area zeitgeist is any indication then it's not hopeful. Cryptocurrency and problematic right-wing (and sometimes left) speech are already linked in progressive professional class circles.
People often buy cryptocurrencies with credit cards. Visa, MasterCard could (and in some instances have) blocked payments to Cryptocurrency Exchanges (which is where many people get their cryptocurrencies from).
Some Cryptocurrency Exchanges want direct access to your account at a bank, credit union, etc. In practice this means they will pull & push money via an Electronic Fund Transfer (ETF). Some banks, credit unions, etc have blocked ETFs to Cryptocurrency Exchanges too.
yes the exchanges are a potential problem. i believe coinbase already shut down gab's account. So while they can accept bitcoin, they can't convert it into dollars.
