Using sophisticated data analytics, targeted marketing, lies, and a whole lot of private money to get the result you want isn’t democracy either. It always was a game of persuasion, but it’s more and more a game of programming the populace with nudges.

So when we voted yes by 67% in the 1st ref. in 1975(biggest winning margin vote ever held in this country & one of the largest turnouts)the 2016 ref. that overturned it wasn't an attack on the people's will by reversing the 75 vote, but 3rd referendum to overturn 2016 would be?

Never understood this argument. Votes don't settle matters indefinitely. Even in Switzerland, we keep voting on issues we already voted on. Here, if you don't like something, just get 100k of your friends to sign your petition for constitutional change.

It's kind of viewed as bad form to re-vote on things, but it's not illegitimate, and usually failed motion get voted down even harder on the second try.
