Someone I know and like just share this, so lets break it down: https://quillette.com/2018/12/07/academics-mobbing-of-a-young-scholar-must-be-denounced/ …

For those of you who don't know,
@Cambridge_Uni are in the news because they decided to hire#NoahCarl, who does#IntelligenceResearch, which is unsurprisingly just as racist and ableist and horrific as it sounds.4 replies 1 retweet 3 likesShow this thread -
The academic community, including
@CUSU_Disabled and@CambridgeBME then wrote this letter, which said article describes as a witch hunt: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScqiHicJXPCWPZVXKdhyPTO9jHFgdXV08WdA6nPf0_k2j5Xvw/closedform …1 reply 0 retweets 1 likeShow this thread -
First of all, continuing to use
#IQ as a metric for#intelligence is dodgy, because the IQ test does have astoundingly#racist origins, and has been used time and time again to propagate horrendous racist and#ableist scholarship.22 replies 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread -
Secondly, yes humanities scholars signed the letter, and athropologists, and social scientists. That's because the field he works in (intelligence research) is interdisciplinary and can be approached many ways.

The screenshot in the article nicely leaves out the many many straight scientists that signed the letter. They also only link to the letter via
@emercurial_ 's tweet, which is a calculated move - trying to make out like this is coming primarily / only from the students3 replies 0 retweets 1 likeShow this thread -
Thirdly, a quick SOLO search of Noah Carl as author and then 'race' in any field brings up a good 5-6 papers with titles such as: Cognitive ability and political beliefs in the United States Verbal intelligence is correlated with socially and economically liberal beliefs

...[cont] Does intelligence have a U-shaped relationship with leftism? Can intelligence explain the over-representation of liberals and leftists in American academia?

The fact that none of these articles have 'race' in their title, but come up in the search, means its most likely mentioned in the article itself. I don't have time to scan through, but I bet you IQ used as a measure to make statements about the intelligence of different races.

What's it like to have no scholarly integrity and to feel so utterly shameless about it?

Replying to @primalpoly
Mate, this ain't my area. Skim reading things that I'm not a specialist on is fine. Doesn't make anything I said about his methodology (which I did check) less true
