      'But it's just one scholar being mobbed! Who cares?' Yes, it's almost always just one at a time. One this week, one next week.... That's how mobbing works. The long-term effect of these mobbings on academic integrity and viewpoint diversity are what's at stake here.

          I don't always agree with @primalpoly, but I appreciate his perspective. What is of most concern is the culture of silencing and intimidation that especially young, untenured academics have to cow to if they are to have any career prospects. What a way to kill the spirit.
