How much do Americans link 'casual sex' to a "Fire & Forget" approach? The 'casual' or 'uncommitted' vs 'romantic' or 'committed' strikes me as a biased branding.
There's a surprising amount of intimacy (foreplay, eye gazing, & cuddling) when people have 'casual sex' -- especially if they really like 'casual sex'. (N = 639 young U.S. adults). HT @NicoleRPrause

No. There is the pretense of intimacy. An act. For those of a more sociopathic ("rational," they say) bent, it can be a great deal of fun. For those who are not, it quickly becomes torture. Like being emotionally slammed on the floor over and over (think the Hulk slamming Loki).

I question whether "affectionate behaviors" always imply intimacy. By definition, casual encounters occur with people you don't really know. Can you be intimate with somebody and not have intimate knowledge of him/her?
