I think people like Blaffer Hrdy expand on what many evolutionary psychologists do though. She waded further into historical analysis etc..imo

I dunno, I think one could cash everything out in terms of biochemical interactions even if largely oblivious/ambivalent to prior evolutionary pressures that shaped those systems, but that is IMO an even bigger commitment to the kind of biodeterminism the usual suspects fear

Disagree - potentially real gender studies wld also encompass policy decisions (Eg what works and what doesn’t). Of course such policy decisions right now are hopeless bc policy made according to incorrect facts is generally unworkable.

Social conformity (and relevant policy to this end) to biological realism is the only way to a well-functioning and mentally healthy society. Goldberg made this point decades ago and its simplicity is elegant.

Yeah, these were a serious category error from the start. Classical fields (Physics, Bio, Math, History, etc.) weren't arbitrary, they always reflected robust abstractions above another (Physics>Chem), or robust lateral movement because things get complex at the stack's top...

... (Sociology <-> Econ). Gender Studies isn't an abstraction or large enough for a genuine lateral field. They should've chose sex-focused research in History, Lit., Bio, etc. & they'd have been subjected to the scientific method from the start (a hint to why they're separate).
