I've often found those on the Left, despite ostensibly being caring and open, to actually be rather selfish and volatile. I think that some rationalise away their egotism by justifying their actions under care for a wider cause. It can be a means of living with themselves.
There's an interesting contrast between the Intersectional Left in this regard, versus Effective Altruists, who tend to be stable, genuinely altruistic, and open to changing their minds.

Yes I totally agree. I would love to know if there is a relationship between childhood trauma and the "Intersectional Left". I imagine the categories would be very tricky to define and the correlations rather flaky but I'll leave that to the Social scientists to ponder.
