Reminder: free speech is not just a matter of constitutional law. It's an American value, an epistemic virtue, a basic human right, & a foundation of rational civilization. Companies that disagree should say so to their customers, employees, investors, & regulators.pic.twitter.com/IZ9q7schXw

I always ask these people, "If you argue that it is morally bad for the government to limit your free speech, why then do you think it's ok when other groups and institutions do it?"

Because the government has the power to imprison and other institutions do not...

Other institutions have other kinds of power, and any kind of power can interfere with free speech if it's not constrained by a general public that actively values free speech. That's my point bro.

"Interfere with free speech" seems like a pretty imprecise statement... It *could be* read as an expectation of the service of a platform or even seeking speach free of consequences. What do you mean by "interfere with free speech"?

Yeah, but freedom of association goes against it. You have no right to be platformed, you can't force someone to give you something to talk or write. Which doesn't mean it's not a problem!

The value pertains to the freedom to make up your own damn mind, which actually involves listing to the other person. When you deny someone the right to speak, you also deny yourself the right to listen and think about the issue as presented.
