Giving your child a dumb name like ABCDE should be considered child abuse because you’re willing to condemn your child to a lifetime of mockery so you can get attention.

Nobody in the US knows how to spell my name, and then they usually shorten it to 'Geoff', which is abominable. But, maybe somewhat weird names build resilience and antifragility in kids. Super weird names are just dumb though.
No offense to guys who go by 'Geoff' btw. It should be a voluntary choice. Like, if a guy introduces himself as 'James', don't start calling him 'Jimmy' right away.

I had a professor who automatically saw the name James on the student list and immediately began calling him Jim for the whole semester. It baffled me that the professor would be so presumptuous to just skip to Jim.
