Some people believe it's unethical to use CRISPR-cas9 technology to select for certain traits in human offspring. Was it ethical for our ancestors to use mate choice over the last few million years to select for certain traits in partners & offspring?

"I compare apples and oranges, thus they are comparable." They are not _reasonably_ comparable.

I’m kinda of the same mind. Seems like comparing ancestors liking sweet tastes to dumping sugar in every damn food artificially.

Sexual selection may select for certain traits, but what is selected is an entire set of genes that have together reached a certain level of evolutionary robustness. Way different from superficially and ignorantly (when it comes to consequences) assembling from a trait menu.

This is a silly response. The fact that you compared two things does not very meaningfully, or objectively, if you will, make them comparable.

You’d be better off asking about the obvious implications of eugenics.

I suppose there's no law against you comparing a pomegranate to a '57 Chevy, but you shouldn't. 'We can breed wolves into dogs, so intentional, financially/politically-incentivized, genetic search/replace with a new tech is cool'... not the best take. Come on.
