PS most conservative academics won't even share their horror stories of being denied jobs based on perceived conservative leanings, because blowing the whistle on academia's political bias would only result in further career costs. But ask them over drinks. Everyone has stories.

How can you even know? It's not like you get reader responses to job applications. (And even if you did they probably wouldn't state the political motivation outright, though some would want to I imagine.)

As a conservative English major undergrad, I considered pursuing an academic career. A wise, young, liberal professor friend I trusted strongly discouraged me from doing so because of my political beliefs. Both of us were sad that he was right.
lol... really? That doesn’t seem to apply to conservative academics on twitter, who readily and regularly share their horror stories. Agree bias is bad, disagree conservatives tend to keep quiet about perceived bias.
So basically if this conspiracy against conservatives is so totally real that everyone affected by it is too afraid to whistle blow how do we know that it exists?
