I, a smart person (lol) am worried about both and think we’re super screwed.
We should worry about climate change and work to manage it, but we shouldn't treat it as THE big risk we face, and we shouldn't use it as an ideological tool to de-legitimize capitalism or technological progress.

Maybe we shouldn't use it to delegitimize free market capitalism, but that's not really the stage we're at anymore. Who isn't in full support of using technological progress to manage climate change? But we need the basic research funding and the time to make that a reality.

The biggest problem with climate change is that while the West preaches risk and reduction, we simultaneously offload our pollution to the third world and effectively change nothing. They will continue to slash, burn, dump and destroy in the name of progress.
