Call me crazy, but I’m much more scared of AI than I am of climate change

Do you mean the kind of AI that exists already (bc it can be used to great effect by tyrants, for example) or do you mean “superintelligent AI”?
-
Artifical General Intelligence, which would level up to become Superintelligence very quickly.

Why do you think climate change isn't a true existential risk?
-
It won't wipe out every living human. Maybe hundreds of millions within a century, but not everyone.

@Evollaqi@MccluskyMark Agree with GMiller. Superintelligence (and anything NBostrom of FOH) is a strong rec. I also suggest a new podcast series- The End of The World w/@josh_um_clark from@SYSKPodcast. He examines humanity's existence as well as natural and human-made XRisks. -

Anyone who thinks this doesn't understand climate change or AI.

if climate change accelerates and exacerbates the fight for resources in vulnerable parts of the world, it most definitely is an existential threat.
