They're only 'funny' because everybody over-reacts to everything, and fails to solve problems quickly and efficiently.

...and nearly all follow the same formula. Super smart kid, goofball kid and wife that is too hot for oafish husband. Misunderstanding between two characters and hilarity ensues. Dad is butt of primary gag.
