Try asking folks to explain Ricardo's Law of Comparative Advantage, one of the deepest and most basic insights in econ. Almost nobody can.

Most basic insights for something like economy is subjective at best, everyone knows what having and not having money is like so they qont be nearly as ignorant about economy as they would be about a weapon they've never seen and never experienced
