I feel like the word "censored" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that phrase. Could mean "I wanted to say something, but I thought I would be demonized" or "I had enough self control to not be a dick"

It should be OK to to say controversial things, even very controversial things, and then discuss the heck out of them.

My niece is one of them. She literally keeps her views to herself for fear of ostracism. College campuses right now are not a place for free thinking, they are indoctrination centers.

I went to a talk at UCLA and the panel of teachers were Left to extreme Left. One guy commented, among the people in attendance, a rather mild right wing comment and he almost got kicked out and treated by all with hostility.
