I get the attempt at humor but leveraging gross misinterpretations for a laugh only undermines our ability to have intelligent discussions around points of disagreement. The UK has been a sovereign state for the entirety of its existence
1940: Britain defeats Luftwaffe to protect British sovereignty.
2018: Britain can't defeat EU paperwork to protect British sovereignty.

Correction: Britain is perfectly able to leave the EU anytime it wants to protect its “sovereignty” (abject nonsense of course, used by people who don’t understand the concept of pooled sovereignty). It just can’t have its cake and eat it, as it wants to do.
