Long-term pair bonds are very common throughout our species, and normative monogamy is quite common across large civilizations, but there's quite a bit of variation across age, individuals, and cultures.
Imagine if there were _individual differences_ in emotions, personality traits, and mating strategies that led to different styles of love in our species.... Oh wait we have decades of research & thousands of papers showing that.
