I still disagree with this contention. I think most of these principles are well engrained. How people respond to no-stakes polls is, imo, a nearly useless metric and probably worse than useless because it gives the wrong impression of reality

Completely agree. I sometimes think for 10 minutes before finally clicking the answer. At least 2 of those are spend on thinking about how I'm in the tiniest minority of people who spend that time.
