I'm pretty sure we put way more effort into avoiding nuclear war currently than we do in avoiding further climate change. So I can't really agree with your statement. Sadly, all that won't matter when we nuke each other over the last piddly resources left. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I guess what I'm really saying, is why can't we tackle both? For example: How about we disarm and make nice by coming together as a world to solve climate change? Of course, this supposes that humans aren't horrible, destructive, assholes bent on self annihilation. So, yeah.
