Why won’t our media talk about global warming, the most important story in human history? An extinction level event that is bearing down on us faster and faster? It really is an insane and unparalleled dereliction of duty on the part of the media.
The risk of global thermonuclear war has been the biggest existential risk to humanity and the biosphere for decades. Global warming won't exterminate all humans. Nuclear winter easily could.

One can wipe out enormous wealth and will destroy our current way of life, despite being simple to solve. So why not? The other is potential total destruction. A modern enigma we will always carry. Be concerned for both but know that the opportunity on climate action is now.

That argument cuts both ways. Nuclear war is a neglected X-risk compared to global warming.
I think the media - open 24h a day - could easily talk about both of these issues, and several others of import.
Thank goodness Carl Sagan invented the concept of nuclear winter when he did - and be even more thankful that everyone believed him.
