Reality check for first-time authors:
1) if your book does well (but not a bestseller), maybe 10k people will buy it, and 3k finish it.
2) if you're on a popular podcast (like @joerogan or @RubinReport), at least 100k people will hear your ideas.

Like what? Starting a podcast or a YouTube channel come to mind, but those options seem to require just as much dedication. Though distinct pieces of content can get lots of exposure quickly.

Books are a medium to transmit information, public platforms are a different subject. If anything podcasts are another platform for one to market books, or go on a book tour. More accurate comparison is audiobook, which could be condensed enhanced for a podcast style video.
