This a very reasonable idea. The real 'voter suppression' is not having all voting happen on weekends or on a national holiday.
Are they citizens? Then yes.

this is something that was always confusing me about US, pretty much all European countries (not sure about the rest of the world) vote exclusively on Sundays so that people wouldn't have to miss voting due to work, school, exams etc.

Completely agree. However, I would say expand early voting days and hours to a degree that there isn't a need for a holiday.
In Australia it's compulsory for everyone and held on a Saturday ! Can't imagine how it would work being held on a weekday..
