My preferred form of “rule of the people” would look somewhat like a mix of reddit and Wikipedia for legislative policies, except with money instead of karma for the best policy submissions. Low barrier of entry to participate, and a built-in mechanism for iterative improvements.

We could eliminate the need for career politicians. They were necessary for democracy to be logistically possible these last ~250 years or so, but they haven’t exactly demonstrated that the people might not be better off without them (provided law would be protected & enforced)

So much wrong with this naive analysis of how voting, which is inherently tribal signalling and demands that the State engage in the mind control of its subjects, works in practice. See how insistent the System is that you vote? Renounce your vote, delegitimise the System.

Good thread; this is how I vote. It's naive, but less naive than assuming I'm sufficiently informed to anticipate actual policy outcomes as promised by candidates & parties.
