      Growing up in LA in the ‘70s none of my friends were aware of all Queen’s differences. We thought Freddie Mercury was straight, ethnically English and just liked Fat Bottomed Girls long before Sir Mix-a-lot. Even the name Queen didn’t trigger any inquiries. We were that clueless.

      Same here. All my teen friends in 1970s Ohio just thought Queen was as straight as Led Zeppelin. Including when we were taking disco lessons.
