Moral: Either you adapt to check runaway hypergamy and redirect those resources into offspring—by, I dunno, say socially imposed monogamy—or you go extinct, taking your females with you. And on your way out you look ridiculous trying to comply with their demands. Sounds familiar.
Humans seem to have already struck a pretty good balance between those for the last few million years. Plus, our sexual ornaments (in both sexes) are largely intelligence, creativity, etc... which proved kinda useful in surviving too.
