Disagree! Publicly refuting arguments that are wrong has important social value in convincing the yet-undecided silent majority. But it's definitely the case that not all argument is productive in this way and there's an art to being effective.

Vitalik, I completely agree that qualified & educated arguments are productive, but as u wrote, there's 'an art to being effective', & so it behooves us not to 'argue' for best effect. Instead, we civilly refute, discuss, debate etc, so that listeners are provided a rounded case
