The average European has about 2.0% Neanderthal DNA. Elizabeth Warren has about 0.4% Native American DNA.

PS here's that time we showed that there's often a big gap between what people think they are genetically, and what their % genetic admixture actually is, given ancestry informative markershttps://www.researchgate.net/publication/23414663_Genetic_Admixture_Self-Reported_Ethnicity_Self-Estimated_Admixture_and_Skin_Pigmentation_Among_Hispanics_and_Native_Americans …

Can the average ethnic European claim to be part of an extinct minority group then?

At last, a critique on twitter that uses a fair estimate of her percent Native American DNA! The test said 6-10 generations ago and you used the median 8 generations ago and even rounded up from 0.39%.

Yes, and I identify as Neanderthal. My people were run to extinction by Homo sapiens, and I demand reparations and affirmative action benefits.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason why white people have a percentage of native American DNA is not because we all descend from people who at some point interbred with Amer Indians after the diaspora but that Amer Indians are Eurasian hybrids and only a small percentage of

Her DNA test included all native Americans - including those south of the border. So it’s far more likely that someone in her history fucked a Mexican than a real Native American. As we all know, those Mexicans love to fuck white chics. 🇲🇽

I think regardless of if it's 2% or 0.1%, it's ridiculous she'd claim be NA w/one linkage so far back in the family history. My family has very similar stories about having NA lineage. Like her, I'm as white as they come & would never claim it even if I had that 2%.

I grew up on the Qualla Boundary of the (Eastern Band) Cherokee Indian Reservations, just as my family has for generations. Granted, I was born in the 1970s and have no idea of the climate Warren speaks about in her state. I have aunts, uncles (in-laws) & 4th generation Cherokee

One more. Knowing kin isn’t just a Cherokee thing, which is why I get it. It’s largely an Appalachian thing as well. We’re all known for closing ranks to outsiders

I drink a 40% single malt from @edradourmalt - highly recommended from the smallest distillery in Scotland. I’m assuming that after a couple of drams I’m almost entirely Scottish. I know after a few more I’m almost entirely drunk.
