The policies are hypothetical. Their statements against universities are real. So is their repeated attempts to defund liberal arts, and general dislike of people who they call "elites."

Well, I'd be interested to hear some others! Both regarding the vintage conservatives *and* its new incarnation as Trumpist party. I don't find it surprising that people with above-average education and intellect are repelled by the Trumpist party. That's the hypothesis to beat.
