When first allegation came out and it was still anonymous, I considered that both might be telling the truth - the assault had occurred, just like the accuser said; and the accused (by virtue of being very drunk) might not remember that it had occurred so believed it hadn't /1

How about a polygraph for Kavanaugh? For Mark Judge? How about interviewing witnesses about their behavior at the time? How can you know what will turn up, unless you look?
Polygraphs are pseudoscience with zero validity, and every serious psychologist knows it. You might as well adjudicate a case with astrology.
