Art's role should never have been confused with the role of rationalism. Art is a process of exploring and expressing giant question marks of the human experience, it doesn't need to answer them. Art shouldn't be held to the same standards as reason.

if an artist makes a piece of art that is troubling or potentially offensive, it shouldn't be viewed as an endorsement of those subjects it explores. It should be recognized as a strange experiment that can then be discussed *outside* of its own existence
