How to choose a therapist: Ask if they accept the thousands of behavior genetics studies showing that every psychological trait is heritable, and that almost none are significantly influenced by shared family environment ('childhood experience'). If they don't, keep looking.

I’m not sure if more evidence means truth, but, yes, I want a therapist who follows the evidence, though I think it matters much more their ability to help you where you are. Does believing psychological traits are heritable make you a better at CBT? If so, I agree with you.

Truth can be irrelevant. I don't care if my surgeon is a creationist. Theoretically it's messed up for a human body specialist to deny evolution but if he has a high success rate for the operation I need, that's what matters most.
