When Google says they don’t operate via a political bias, they’re being sincere. Much of the left don’t see their views as political, but as moral. To them, it’s not that they’re “liberal,” they’re just right.
For more on this point, everyone should read 'The righteous mind' by @JonHaidt. Different moral foundations lead to different political values; and you can't change people's moral priorities by arguing about specific policies.

Or listen to his podcast yesterday on kqed forum. He says lefties simply can't comprehend respect for authority, loyalty to a cause greater than oneself, and the very idea of sanctity. Conservatives can. They also understand lefties' hot buttons like equity, fairness.
