Effective Altruism includes the insight that you can do 1000x times more good if you're rational about how you do good. Why waste your time doing less effective things?

Do you see any place for the humanities, arts and social sciences? Just reading Nussbaum’s book ‘Not for Profit’ about the role of humanities education in sustaining productive and responsible citizenship. She is avowedly progressive but has much to say of interest.

They're all important, especially in a classical liberal education. But they're not the most accurate way to understand the world or the most effective way to do good.

The most important work in the world is caring for and nurturing young children. So yes, Early Childhood Educators, daycare workers, primary school teachers, and parents are all doing it.

It’s not for the social cred, it’s for the feelings it gives you. Social justice people use how an action makes them feel as the feedback mechanism for whether what they’re doing is effective. This is their downfall.

Never heard of Effective Altruism before... looking it up, it sounds kind of like applied Utilitarianism. If so, that's a bad philosophy.
