So here’s a thought: What if Obama is the aberration and Trump the norm? What if the desire to live under autocratic rule is, and has always been, deeply woven into the fabric of America? What if the reality is, liberty and egalitarianism have NEVER been something we stand for?
The tension between autocracy and democracy goes all the way back to primate dominance dynamics, and was a major theme in political commentaries in ancient Greece. Now we just have TV and Twitter....
