Well I said most of it here: http://www.bretthall.org/humans-and-other-animals.html … I just wonder *how do they know*? That claim is analogous to opening up a computer hardware case, looking at the processor and hard drive and exclaiming "It's definitely got Call of Duty and Keynote for Apple installed."

Haha always good to be reminded of evolutionary fundamental truths :-) wait, is something considered a truth if it's a scientific fact?

"sentient (capable of registering pain and suffering)" Is that meant as an exhaustive description of the experiences that sentience enables? That is, does a creature have to be sentient 'plus something else' in order to be able to experience anything other than pain & suffering?

We should all act as if this is true, in fact it's a moral imperative to do so, but this should not be confused with knowing it is true. The minimum conditions for sentience are unknown.
