(1/4) I think the comparison between a few cancelled colloquium talks and literally burning scientists at the stake is missing some relevant nuance. I'm also not calling for "more" social consequences here, if anything I said gave that impression.

(2/4) My point is that calls for (and discussion surrounding) "radical free speech" often come with hidden implicature that speech ought not be subject to criticism. Then we're just shuffling around which voices we silence.
