The minimum voting age should be 8, because 8-year-olds actually get excited about things. And they'd get in the habit of civic engagement for a few years before adolescence sours them. Adult voting would become a nostalgic way of reclaiming childhood optimism.

At the very least we could weight the votes of families to account for their number of minor children... No less absurd than apportioning congressional districts by counting the number of non-citizen residents toward the congressional representation a state gets...

I agree. Every living citizen, no matter how young, should have some kind of vote to represent their interests. If they're not old enough to vote, one of their parents (selected at random?) should be able to vote on their behalf.
