A lot of profs totally dismiss my concerns about political bias. But then I'm warned, when going on the job market, not to mention conservative interests in my research statement, and even to bury actual publications in my CV, or leave them out, because they are not PC.

What's nice about the Michigan diversity statement I linked is that they're actually committing to the motte in print. Usually what's in print is the bailey and the motte is insisted upon behind closed doors. This is a sign of the Left's increasing confidence and triumphalism.

I think I understand what you’re saying but it seems you mixed up motte with bailey.

Okay, interesting - I can see how terms (e.g., family values) often stand in for something else (e.g., pro-life). But here, the terms on their face are relevant to the job. Be sensitive to students' different backgrounds etc. What controversial angle are they standing in for?

You can get from motte to bailey by asking why it is that by “diversity” it is almost always meant racial backgrounds and not ethnic, class backgrounds or varying political outlooks. E.g. EU has 24 unique languages, yet EU bureaucrats will talk about “need for diversity.”

Don't link rationalwiki. It's an unethical website that maligns politically incorrect people in a way that's super unfair.
