Completed my PhD ages 66 six years after retirement and first book just published on #Darwin , #romanticism, #evolution and #Humboldt with no career progression at 68!
But is it doing anybody a favor to accept them into a program if their likelihood of career success is very low? This applies to everybody from any background, privileged or not.

Regardless, if this policy is pursued, a phase out is better than immediately turning the taps off. Many people I know left PHD programs mid-way through for good jobs they got through networks they forged in those programs.
