Studying hard and writing term papers causes stress, anxiety, exhaustion, and other forms of 'mental harm'. Is it 'violence' to expect students to work hard? Academic job interviews cause even more stress and 'mental harm'. Are they inflicting 'violence'?

No but the damage done by psychological trauma can be worse and longer lasting that physical trauma. A proper framing would be harm from words can be ≥ physical harm. There are plenty of data on this subject
