The 'War against Terror' The 'War against Hate' Never trust a war against a basic human emotion. It's a war that's designed never to be won, but to cost us every freedom while it's being fought.

Obvs. That's why horror movies work everywhere.

Oh, but the terror itself isn’t the basic emotion. Is it?

Yes, why wouldn't terror be a core human emotion? I've taught my Human Emotions seminar for ten years, and we always read research on terror as an emotion.

I find it unsettling to regard knife attacks or ramming pedestrians w/ a car as a consequence of basic human emotion. I prefer to think that terror would be considered a more developed emotion. Maybe in the category of psychotic rage or something. But perhaps this is semantics.

Terrorist attacks aren't caused by terror. They're caused by certain belief systems.
